Dr. Sally Ride was not only the first American woman in space and the youngest person in space at the time, but she was also the first known queer astronaut. 🧑‍🚀 Dr. Ride, along with 5 other women, was hand-selected out of 8,000 candidates for NASA’s first class that allowed female astronauts. After going to space twice, she continued to break down barriers in STEAM with her nonprofit, Sally Ride Science.
