There are 29 accepted species and 147 accepted subspecies of the Morpho butterfly genus. They are found mostly in the primary forests of South America, Mexico, and Central America.Morphos have a very distinctive, slow, bouncy flight pattern due to their wing area being enormous relative to their body size.
