#OnThisDay September 8, 1939, German troops occupied the city of Łódź, Poland. ⁠ ⁠ Jacob Eisenbach was born on April 27, 1923, in Łódź. ⁠In April of 1940, the Nazis forced the Jews of Łódź to move into the Łódź Ghetto, an isolated area located in the northeastern section of the town, where disease and starvation were rampant.
