Ferdinand Magellan Voyage of Discovery 🌎 Ferdinand Magellan set sail in 1519 with five ships to find a western route to the Spice Islands. During the voyage, he discovered the Strait of Magellan, which connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Unfortunately, Magellan didn't complete the journey himself, as he was killed in a battle in the Philippines.
