2014年7月11日 · It's becoming more and more of a go-to wood for me. To me, it sits nicely in the middle of the spectrum between mahogany and rosewood. Mahogany being dry, warm, more fundamentals, less chime. Rosewood being darker, chimier, shimmerier, more sustain, swell, bloom etc. Walnut has a bit of each of those characteristics, but not to either extreme.

2020年10月16日 · I've got a walnut B/S guitar, but it's hard to give you a description because it's a Lowden, which has it's own thing going on. With that caveat, I'd say walnut is sort of "mahogany-lite" in that it's close to mahogany in tone, but more transparent and -- well -- lighter in tone. It gives the redwood/walnut Lowden an airy sort of tone.

2004年1月21日 · It's a preference thing. I wanted something that was tonally somewhere between rosewood and mahogany. I wanted the lows of rosewood, but without the complex overtones (that some people love). I found the sound in walnut. Walnut doesn't give you the "rosewood sound, only better", it gives you the walnut sound.

Now English Walnut has a Higher specific Gravity than Black Walnut..English SG...as with all woods...can vary from piece to piece....but often it will be in the range of .62 to .66. Black Walnut once again varies..but more often is in the .52 to .55 range.

2024年1月11日 · I’ve owned the J-45 studio Walnut, as well as Rosewood, and they are both wonderful. They are very comfortable with their thinner body depth. They do lose some bass, but they are still balanced. The Walnut is more crisp and the rosewood is “thicker” in tone. I think I prefer the walnut, but Im not even certain.
