May 30, 2019 · Sonic 2 is the best "pure" Sonic game. Clearly. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is also the best though, they equally share #1. Sonic Mania comes close to being the best 2D Sonic, there's only a couple of small issues (one of which being that it's partially made up of reimagined zones instead of new ones). I'll vote for S3+K in the poll.

Nov 25, 2019 · Sonic Mania 2 is obvious so I don't need to go into why that should exist. The only question is whether you stick with the theme of old remixed and new, or you go fully new. However the other crime is the lack of a Sonic Maker game. Sonic is the original rom hack wunderkind. Christ Sega did it themselves with Knuckles in Sonic 2 back in the day.

I bought the game a year and a half ago and I still haven't finished it. If they ever make a Sonic Mania 2, I hope they get some real level designers and boss designers. Mania has the worst zones and bosses of all the 2D Sonic games.
