January 31, 2012 at 05:13 PM · When I started playing my teacher told me about the "Russian bow hold" with the bow hitting the index finger higher up, and the wrist a little more bent. I would switch between that bow hold, and a more flat wrist depending on the music/style I was playing.

2018年12月7日 · The Russian bow hold was very famously used by Jascha Heifetz and Nathan Milstein. It involves a bow hand that is very pronated, leaning toward the pointer finger, with a straight pinkie. Being sort of a Galamian/Gingold "grand-student," I definitely use a Franco-Belgian bow hold.
