2013年6月20日 · Buddy of mine just replaced a wheel motor that failed. I think he said it was about $12k. Two days after it failed he traded it for an apache. It was the second wheel motor in 2 or 3 years for him. It failed on the road going down a pretty steep hill. I asked him if he had to clean his pants. "Nope, just my wallet." He replied.

If it needed new wheel bearings, I would change them out, and I stocked the seal rings around the spindle, because there was always a possiblity of breaking them on reassembly. If the cam ring had any pits in the hard service, or damage to the rollers, we put on a reman.

Rogator 1074: how to tell when I have bad wheel motor?
2018年4月15日 · Take a case drain off one wheel motor, put in a 5 gallon bucket, one at a time and do a stall test. A bad motor will bypass a lot of oil. Another easy way is to start out in the morning, run for 20-30 minutes, then check each wheel motor with a heat gun. Weak motors get hot faster than the others.

The seal itself is easy to change ,its getting to it thats the hard part there is a hub inside the wheel motor that runs on 4 sets of sealing rings like found in a powershift trans.
