The best block cleaning system is where the block is baked at temperature that reduces all petroleum products to white ash followed by a trip in a shot blast cabinet.

Have tried cleaning it out back flushing -front flushing and have had the tank cleaned as well. About ready to pull the motor out and all the freeze plugs and do a clean out.

My dad had a 390 Ford that ran hot so before a trip to Alaska he replaced the soft plugs and found that the block still had core sand from the casting of the block in it. So he scratched it out with a stiff wire and flushed it out. That was the end of overheating.

2006年1月4日 · Tip the block so one bank is perpendicular to the ground, and blast away. blast out all the holes in the top of the block. Also, you can take an old speedo cable, unwrap a few inches of it, chuck it in a drill and spin it in the water jackets. The frayed ends work great for knocking rust off.
