I don't understand why Isabela gets surprised when Mirabel
Mirabel relates more closely to Elsa, ostracized by her family for being a screw up and expected to stay out of the way. I don't know what Mirabel needed to apologize for at all because she was never cruel to Isabela. Mirabel had an askew view of Isa due to Abuela just gushing about how perfect she is, sure, but Mirabel wasn't at all mean to her.
