Basic Delta Types
Here are two kites with identical frames, yet representing two different types. On the left is a "standard delta," with wing tips and root on the same straight line, while the one on the right has an "extended keel." Both kites have long center spines, but only the red one has the wing fabric coming all the way down to the end.

The spine on a stunt kite creates the keel of the familiar Rogallo wing shape. Aside from being a good place to connect T pieces and bits of frame, the keel has many effects on the way a kite handles in forward flight, turning and slack line moves.
the name Delta Keel, as it describes the shape: it need not be folded if the material used for the keel is strong enough to be sin-gle. I think Helen Bushell's design would also be much improved (made more stable) if it too used a Delta Keel (Diag.3). There are other aspects of the delta that I think could be improved and I am still experi-menting.
