2019年1月15日 · Blocks, Jerry’s, etc have never carried Holbein colored pencils. Because they cannot legally sell them here. They used to carry more of their paint though. I suspect amazon sellers, like eBay, were sending them from Japan, because Holbein wholesaler here won’t sell them to you. Pat I use Watercolors with cadmium and cobalt too.

2014年9月12日 · Holbein makes marvelous colored pencils too, and their watercolors and gouache are tops as well, so they are a major art company, they don’t dabble in making cars! I am not sure why their colored pencils, 150 colors, are not imported except by ebay sellers, I think it has to do with testing and labeling hazardous pigments.

2016年5月23日 · I have one tube of the Japanesque type. So it is hard to really tell. Good question to ask the sellers of it! They both say Opaque, Mat, & Water Resistant. Same size tubes. I think from what I have seen the Japanese have a little different color preferences. Eg. My Holbein colored pencils have 1/3 of the set being pastel colors.
Could someone compare Luminance with Pablo for me?
2017年7月17日 · The range of blues and greens is smaller than is usual for this size of sets – Derwent’s Artists / Studio / Watercolour 72 colour sets have 24 blues + greens, so did Faber-Castell’s old 72 sets, even Staedtler Karat 60 set has 22 … Luminance has only 19. The lightfastness of Luminance is however the best you can get in colour pencils.

2008年8月28日 · I purchased a metal palette from Daniel Smith that I like very much. Unfortunately it was just slightly less than the holbein at $58. It is just like the nice ones use by Winsor & Newton for their pan sets. There are two mixing areas and they each have different surfaces; one slightly rougher and the other is shinny and smooth.

2012年3月17日 · I have Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils, Caran D’Ache Luminance sample, Caran D’Ache Pablo sample as well as Walnut Hollow oil pencils. Here’s the chart I did up. Added to it were also Prismacolor pencils which are waxed based. If you need a lot of colors, Walnut Hollow oil pencil packs of 24 or 36 would work.

I was sort of afraid to start anything with them only to discover they have been ruined. I’ll have to take them for a test run.
