Socotra’s fauna is fascinating, with the island being home to 225 species of birds, 6 of which are endemic (Socotra sparrow, Socotra Cisticola, Socotra Starling, Socotra Sunbird, Socotra Warbler and the rarest Socotra Bunting).

Socotra is home to 34 species of reptile, 4 marine and 30 terrestrial. Of the 30 terrestrial species, an astonishing 27 (90%) are endemic. The most diverse taxonomic group of reptiles on Socotra are the geckos (Gekkonidae) with 18 species, of which 15 are endemic.
