To be eligible to fire in an Elementary match a competitor can not have acquired any points toward Distinguished Rifle. Along with this badge, recipients accrue 4 points toward Distinguished Rifleman. The back of the badge is engraved with the recipient's name and the date of award.** It is received with corresponding official USAF orders.**

These badges hold a quasi-sacred place of honor among marksmen and markswomen because they can only be earned by making multiple top ten percent placings in designated competitions where EIC credit points are awarded. In short, you must have a series of excellent performances in major competitions to earn a Distinguished Badge.
