End of the road and gateway to the Southwest National Park. Hydro Tasmania is commencing works on Edgar Dam starting 28 January 2025 until mid-2026. During this time, the Edgar Dam boat ramp and campground will be closed. Access to Strathgordon and Scott's Peak boat ramps remains open. Camping at the Huon and Ted's Beach campground remain open.

The South Cape Bay Track is a 4 hours return (15.4km) short walk within the Southwest National Park. The walk starts at Cockle Creek, the end of the most southern road in Australia. The Southwest National Park is part of the Tasmanian World Heritage Wilderness Area. Cockle Creek is 2 hours drive south of Hobart into the Huon Valley’s Far South.

The easy 10 minute return walk to the sculpture begins at the very end of the road, 800m past Cockle Creek Bridge. With the sand between your toes and the soothing sound of the water, your stress levels are sure to slide south at beautiful Recherche Bay. With its sheltered coastline and calm waters, the area is fantastic for boating and fishing.
