2007年12月5日 · It looks like they assume a 15 brix wine would produce 10% ABV but that would be like a beer going from 1.060 OG down to .980. That's not going to happen. As far as the most useful brix scale is concerned, keep in mind 1 brix = about 1.004 SG. So 40 brix is 1.160 and even very big barley wines don't go there. I like the 0-32 brix.

Yesterday's reading was 9 brix, which the spreadsheet tells me corresponds to 1.021, yet the actual hydro was 1.036. And today, I measured 7.2 brix, corresponding to 1.010, yet the actual hydro reading is 1.022.

2018年5月11日 · That stuff is for calibrating refractometers used to test saltwater fish tanks. If you got an aquarium refractometer, you got the wrong thing. You could use the 0, 10, 20, and 30 Brix solutions to create a translation table for a saltwater refractometer, but that would be a real PITA. Especially when you can get a BRIX refractometer for about $20.

I use an iphone app called brew pal and just turn alcohol correction to "on". Also get used to taking your readings in Brix, even if your refractometer has SG readings because the calculatins use brix as input.
