The triode is the least noisy vacuum tube amplifier known. A check of tubes narrowed our choice to a triode-connected 6AC7, or the miniature version, the 6AH6, since they have the highest gm and therefore the lowest equivalent noise resistance of available triodes.

2016年3月27日 · I've ran 6AC7 in single ended amps, make excellent drivers and have not had any noise issues either, even on AC heat. The 6SJ7 is a fine tube, just doesn't make a great driver tube is all, especially on the harder to drive loads like 6AC7 does.
