Feb 21, 2016 · With approx 75,000 miles on my 2015 F350, I decided to replace the POS oem starter with something better. The OEM starter had engagement issues. I installed a Mean Green gear reduction starter. Removing/installing a starter on the 6.7 is difficult; very little clearance and yes, you must disconnect the wires/cabled first.

Jun 25, 2014 · Use a 13mm socket attached to a 6" extension. Then just hook your 3/8" ratchet to it and it comes right out. :thumb: You go over top of the starter from the bottom side of the truck btw. Yep, either reach in there blind, or remove the splash shield from the fender. it can be a pain but you will need a clip tool, 8mm, 11mm, and a 5.5mm.

Oct 3, 2020 · I had to replace my 6.0 starter over a year ago and opted to use a 6.7 starter. The difference in spinning rpm was incredible!! The quick way to do this is the 6.4 starter. You don't need anything. that you don't already have with your 6.0L starter. The 6.0 starter cranking rpms in the video are to low.

Apr 14, 2023 · OK, so on a '11 6.7 the starter and flywheel went bad and I had to replace the flywheel and starter on the engine. The easy way was to pull the cab, pull the transmission, and replace both flywheel and starter. Both parts were purchased from Ford. I got the job done last week and the truck has had very little use.

Oct 19, 2017 · I am a big fan of the 6.4 starter, my truck starts so much faster with it. The RPM is much faster then the 6.0 starter. A alternator upgrade is another must do wit these trucks to keep from having FICM issues etc. Batteries get topped off with juice when alt is 185 amp or larger. Everything electrical is better off.
