2012年9月4日 · The ideal rear end would be to find a 57 Pontiac unit.They use the 9.25" ring gear and the axles are considerably larger than the 55-56.It is also the same width.Also the 57 3rd member will NOT fit into the earlier housing;it is quite a bit larger.Good luck finding one as they are very scarce now.

2008年2月18日 · The 55 front clip will mate up to the cowl and doors but the wheels will be 7" forward in the wheel wells, but since I'm going to stub the frame and straight axle it I could shorten the wheelbase by 7" and use a 55 chevy front end or a set of 55 Canadian Pontiac fenders.

2015年4月2日 · Welp, 55 Pontiac brakes are a bit small for modern speeds on the interstates in my opinion. They just weren't that good whether manual or power assisted but if you'll be keeping the car off the 75 MPH freeways, they should work just fine with minimal pedal effort.

2007年12月19日 · Yes I changed my 55 Pontiac to a dual cyl and used a 7 in booster. It is relatively easy. I used parts from Master Power Brake, Mooresville, NC. Because of clearance I had to use an aluminum master cyl. that has the ports on the right side. I also installed front disk brakes and changed the rear wheel cylinders and fluid.

2009年7月27日 · For a '55 Pontiac I would try an '80's Chevy Suburban/Blazer 31 gallon tank, or the next size down (I can't remember if it's 21 or 18 or what, it's fairly unusual). They have the inlet in the middle of one side. I'll have to measure one up to see how close it is, I think it's narrower, but as long as it's not too long it should work.

For starters i'm using a 389 Pontiac mill bored to a 400 w/ 670 heads, Th400/2800 stall and 3:73 gears. I picked up a differant frame from a Hamber and got down to work. My old frame needed much more work so I started from scratch.
