Twenty years ago Firth created RibRaft® - New Zealand’s first pod floor system. The Firth RibRaft® system has now become one of NZ's most popular solutions for residential and light commercial flooring. This innovative method of concrete floor construction sits 'on' the ground not 'in' the ground making it seismically strong.
The raft design offers significantly increased strength and reduced cracking allowing the system to be built on soils with a minimum ultimate bearing capacity of 150kPa (for a single storey light roof/wall house). A reinforced concrete perimeter beam and reinforced concrete ribs over the floor area, results in a slab of immense strength.
The Firth RibRaft® Floor System is a reinforced concrete waffle raft floor slab-on-ground. Typically it consists of an 85mm thick slab supported by a grid of ribs normally 100mm wide at 1200mm x 1200mm centres. The overall depth is 305mm. Edge beams and ribs under load bearing walls are 300mm
RAFT FLOOR SYSTEM + READY Super Slab is an above ground engineered flooring system, known as a raft foundation, With a grillage of beams within the concrete slab it provides a stiffer and stronger final product than a conventional 100mm slab, and because of its inherent strength a deepened perimeter footing can usually be omitted.
