Having the problem with excessive engine noise from day1. went to arbitration, Toyota does not want to agree and they say it is Normal as designed, I have compared with Made in Canada, with no problem. Stuck due to lease. Suggestion: DO NOT BUY RAV4 made in Japan (can be identified with the VIN) :lemon: :mad: Recommend to buy Ford or GM SUV.

Granted, winter ain't what it used to be, at least not recently, but with the clearance of the RAV4 and the pull of two front tires, I have no plans to purchase another four wheel drive. No one talks about the lock hub in the front, because Toyota makes more money selling 4 X 4s.

Hello blacksqrrl. I spent the better part of yesterday test driving the CR-V, RAV4 4-cyl and RAV4 V6. I drove the Rav I-4 first: nice, but on the highway I noticed more engine noise a a distinct drone noise behind the seat or in the rear. Higher RPM also than the V6. The V6 with 5 speed was SWEET! Quiet, rode nicer, EVERYTHING! The CR-V was last.

I test drove the Limited and found the handling to be very soft, almost enough to put me of the whole idea of a RAV4. However, I then drove a Sport and found it much, much better. So, my main problem with buying a RAV4 is now the lack of a power seat in the Sport.
