The Minnesota daily bag limit on Lake Superior is three lake trout of any size. Inland lake trout fishing in Minnesota opens Dec. 30 for lakes entirely inside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

It might be a bit too risky for ice fishing on some lakes or ponds in the Northland. Some anglers, however, are getting ready for Wisconsin’s Early Catch and Release Inland Trout Season Opener.
