Goldenrod (Solidago spp.), a gorgeous North American native, has long been unfairly blamed for allergies and hay fever due to its similarity to another, far more allergenic native plant.

The LSU AgCenter said there are two culprits for seasonal allergies during this time of the year — goldenrod and ragweed.
