Located on a 20-acre waterfront campus in historic Bath, Maine, Maine Maritime Museum is open year round. May through October, enjoy lighthouse cruises and sails aboard our 1906 schooner Mary E. The BIW Story trolley tour provides an exclusive look at modern-day shipbuilding for the US Navy. Explore the historic Percy & Small Shipyard, learn about lobstering, see a blacksmith at work in his shop, and see boatbuilders at work in the Boatshop. Lots of hands-on activities for kids, including a Pirate Playship! There's so much to see, admission is good for two days. See why USA Today named Maine Maritime Museum the "Best Museum in Maine!

You can buy onsite. As noted by others, as of this year the tour no longer takes you onto the property of the Iron Works. You watch a video in a visitor center and then the tour bus drives slowly by the Iron Works buildings so you see the ship (sections) under construction at a distance. The tour then goes through Bath neighborhoods, takes the bridge across the Kennebec River and back, and ends in front of the Maritime Museum.
Besides the regular library online catalog, (select ME Maritime Mus (Bath)) there is a Research Manual, the Ship Data Index, the Maine Captains Index...
