The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is Australia's largest butterfly flight aviary. Walk around the luscious rainforest aviary and be surrounded by 1500 free-flying butterflies including the vibrant Cairns Birdwing and the Monarch. Located in Kuranda Village, this all-weather attraction is a must visit! Entry includes a guided aviary tour and a tour of the breeding laboratory, which is home to butterflies in every life stage.

You would have to get a Sunbus from Palm Cove to Smithfield (No. 110 or 111), and then change to get either TransNorth bus or John's bus to Kuranda. TripAdvisor doesn't allow me to post the links on here, but if you Google search for each of the bus companies you should be able to find their timetables.
