Nice little beach with a few Moai as well. Easy walk from the parking lot. Well preserved and include the red stone toppers. Also they have the manually reconstructed Moai. Very nice stop and… TAMAN1951的完整评论

It really is a beautiful beach. So far, I have seen few such beauties. The water is clean, fine and pleasant. The gold sand is clean and fine grained. It is worth taking the time to bathe if you trav… ATTILA B的完整评论
Buenas alguien me podría decir si en febrero el clima y la temperatura es propicia para bañarse en anakena, como para también aprovechar las actividades de la isla … o también ocasionalmente llueve en este mes… gracias viajeros
My friend and I will be traveling to Easter Island in January and want to know the following about paddle boarding: 1 Is Anakena is the only area with calm waters? 2. Anakena looks like a small body of water. Are you able to paddle out of Anakena and still have calm waters? 3. How much time should we allot to paddle boarding at Anakena? Thank you so much. FYI --We have been paddling for a few years yet would like calm waters.

Anakena is the only real protected beach. I would allow 2-3 hours at least. You may want to stay even longer. As for outside the basin, it just depends on the weather. Note there is no rescue service or lifeguards so if you run into trouble, it’s isolated. There are more people around the Hanga Roa main pier area where there are surfers, boaters, divers. One thing going you can pretty much count on are huge turtles playing in the current close to shore so you may find you prefer hanging with them vs. venturing outside the basin to the deeper waters. So just consider that as soon as you leave the anakena area your out in open seas in the middle of the Pacific. Literally. Wishing you a wonderful time there and just be safe.
I hope someone can help.... If I want to go to the beach for a day, and don't want to rent a car, what are my options for getting there if I have a hotel in Hanga Roa? Can I get a cab to drop me off and arrange for the driver to pick me up later? Seems like walking is out of the question, unless I want to spend my whole day walking....

Hi there - according to a quick google - it is about half an hour's drive by car from Hanga Roa to Anakena Beach - I think you would be able to arrange a taxi to get you there and the hotel will definitely be able to assist - The beach area is lovely and the stand of Moai is spectacular - you will get fabulous photos of the carved hands - remember it is a sacred site though. There are bathrooms (you will need some money to use the facilities) and I recall there were a couple of nice open air bar/eating areas close to the car park. I would make sure that you arrange a return journey as it is a bit isolated and the chances of just connecting with a taxi is probably unlikely. There is a lovely lawn area under the palm trees but a fair way from the actual beach - so not much shade on the beach front - take sunscreen and a hat. I didn't have any trouble in South America at all with my belongings but probably would be cautious about what you take to the beach and leave lying around - especially if just going alone! Enjoy - Easter Island is spectacular!!
