We toured the park with a very knowledgeable local guide, thanks to Green Pigeon Tours, which handled our driving and touring in Madagascar. The park is in the southern part of the country, much drye… 322janetc的完整评论

We spent the last 2 days in Isalo. Day 1 was a hike to 2 great natural swimming pools ( one of them we had completely to ourselves). On the way we spotted cameleons, snakes and a lot of insects. Wspe… Datska的完整评论

We plan to do a 4 or 6 days trek in Isalo, in two weeks. Probably to the Portuguese cave. How should we organize in terms of food, water and cooking gear? We prefer to carry the gear ourselves and not take a porter. Is this possible?

I would highly recommend Tourguidelovemada We used Arsene and he has so many connections to good guides! Thru our 3 weeks with his as private guide, we had local guides in each park, and they were all awesome. In this park we had Roxy, who was SO knowledgeable and spoke good English. I think it would be too tough without porter and guide, very dry, but absolute stunning! We would go back and spend more time there.
May I ask if Piscine natural is clean/clear now? As I read somewhere that there are a lot of sands after cyclone last year. Anyone did canyon de makis-piscine natural-cascade? Is it worthwhile? Or Cascade de Nymphes -piscine noire- piscine bleue? Thanks
答:
It's not clear at the moment. It's wet season now and that apparently makes it super sandy. During dry season is when it's clear. (According to my guide I had there a few days ago.)
Hi Kevin When researching on line tours seem very expensive did you pre-book tours before you travelled or can you do the trips independently and /or book more reasonable tours at the hotels when we stay? Thanks Andrew

We did a tour through GAdventures. I won't say it was cheap, but I think it was not too bad. Six months earlier, my sister-in-law did a similar trip where she did most of the bookings and just hired a guide. She seemed to think we came out better. Among other things, many places won't take credit cards, but getting enough cash on a daily basis can be difficult -- the ATMs limit your cash to about 400,000 Ariary. My wife and I consistently went through about 150,000 Ariary every day, with all of the hotels pre-paid through the tour. but our group leader (and his father, who we met) do less expensive tours where the travelers do most of the booking themselves. You can find him on Facebook: Kiady Daniel's is one of his Facebook accounts. He might have a more informed answer.
