Visited Beaconsfield to see the site of the 2006 mine disaster, this place was so much more than we expected, videos, interactive displays, old machinery, easy to spend a couple of hours here. SarahG4770的完整评论

Unsure about the town itself but the mine is basically a Visitor Centre and caters really well to tourists. As another answers suggests, it's part of the Tamar region and not far from Beauty Point which is a key area for fishing and has the attractions of Seahorse World and Platypus World. Might be worth contacting the Mine and talking to the people there to get an idea of what numbers come through there - when peak times are etc.

Hello Wendy, I'm not from Beaconsfield, just visited for the day. So I can't comment on the tourism of the town. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck.

The mine area is out of bound for safety reason but there are indoor and outdoor exhibits which some are interactive. Just look out for a hand sign. The indoor exhibits consist of 2 levels. Level 1 shows the things that were used in the past eg telephones and machinery, and the other side shows photos and videos (news) of what happened during the crisis. Level 2 shows the exhibits of the history of Beaconsfield tracing back to quite long ago. Certain exhibits have lost its history; its year of use could not be traced. The outdoor exhibits are at level 2. You get to climb the stairs at the working area but do remember to hang your tag at the ground floor! The tag will be issued to you once you have bought the tickets. One tag per person. This tag is to tell other visitors that there are visitors at the top. I can't remember what is the maximum number of people that can be present at the top of the working area. This is for safety reason.
