we drove to visit the Castle and we ended seeing it from the river shore as there were no boats to cross it looks as an interesting site on a small island on the river Temper43的完整评论

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in Almourol Castle. There is a “no dogs” sign by the boat that takes you to the castle. We came with our dog and one of us had to stay with him. The boat man gave us about 40 min for the visit, so it would be too long to leave the dog in the car as it was hot in October. Portugal is not particularly dog friendly country. We couldn’t bring our dog in many places and even many restaurants turned us down.
Would like to go beginning of October, what planning and booking do I need to do. How much are the boat trips across and who's best too book with? It's for two adults and a 16 year old

No booking is necessary. You just show up and wait your turn. It's only a five minute ride to the castle. I forget what we paid, but it was very little - a few Euros. It's a castle set on a high hill in a river. You take a boat to get there and then climb and climb. We waited a short bit for the boatsman to get back from lunch, and it was worth it.
